How to Install a RiverTools Service PackThere is a platform-independent (XDR) binary file called "rivertools.sav" that was installed on your computer as part of your original version of RiverTools 2.4. Installing a service pack is as simple as finding this file, renaming it to "rivertools.ORIG", and copying the new version of this file (the service pack) that you downloaded into the same folder. You will not need to relicense RiverTools and no other files in the RiverTools distribution will be affected. If you downloaded a compressed version of the file "rivertools.sav", then you will need to uncompress it with an appropriate program and rename it, if necessary to "rivertools.sav". Files ending with ".gz" have been compressed with the gzip utility. Files ending with ".zip" have been compressed with WinZip. When you are finished, you can determine whether you have installed the service pack correctly as follows. Exit RiverTools, if necessary, then restart RiverTools and select About RiverTools from the Help menu. The Build Date should have changed to a later date and the version number for RiverTools should now be "2.4 SP1" (service pack 1).
